Marching Band

The SHS Marching Blue Devils is a curricular and an extracurricular ensemble which rehearses during band classes and every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon 3:30-5:30. The MBD also performs at every SHS varsity football games and regional marching band competitions. In the interest of creating one united organization committed to excellence in all areas of instrumental music.  Marching band rehearsals and performances are graded activities; absences from these events have a significant negative impact on your class grade (grading scales should be included you’re your class syllabus).  We understand that young people these days have more on their plate than ever between classes, work, and teenage life; however, we also believe in the importance of making and honoring a full commitment – please think carefully before committing to ANY extracurricular activity.

Students must be enrolled in FALL band class and are required to attend Summer Band Camp and all rehearsals, football games, parades, and competitions.  The Band Calendar lists all performance obligations.  You are responsible for this information.

We play music that is challenging for us and entertaining for our fans. All of the music we play is custom-arranged for the band each year our show, stands tunes, even the fight song!! Each year, the music is edited to fit our particular instrumentation balance so we always sound our best.  Our percussion book is arranged by Alan Weathers.
