Welcome to the SHS Band. We hope that you find the following FAQ helpful as you transition to high school band. If you have further questions, please visit this site often as updates will be posted frequently.

 

Who is involved in marching band??
ALL BAND STUDENTS are involved in marching band.

 

How much does it cost to participate?
Band fees are $225.  Check the web site calendar for due dates for multiple payments.
ALL band fees must be paid in full by September 1 in order to participate in Marching Band.

 

What do Band Fees cover?
Band fees cover costs for camp staff, music, uniforms, show materials, transportation, and much more.

 

After I pay my band fees, is there anything else I need to purchase??
New students will need to purchase a pair of band shoes ($25), and 2 pairs of gloves ($1.50 each).

 

When is band camp?
Check the web site calendar and charms calendars for specific dates.
Do I have to come to band camp?
Yes – all students should come to camp – this is where we teach you how to march and play the Statesboro way!!

 

Where will band camp be held?
Statesboro High School

 

What should I bring to camp?
Instrument, sneakers, water bottle, light colored clothes, dryer sheets (to repel bugs)

 

Is there a separate Freshman band camp?
We hold a special “Rookie Camp” designed to help new members get a head start on marching band.

 

Are parents required to be active in Band Boosters?
No. However, all parents are encouraged to participate. Many opportunities are offered through participation in the Band Boosters to support the many activities of the Band.

 

What are some of the volunteer opportunities available through the Band Boosters?
Football Concessions
Band Festival
Rodeo Concessions
Other fund raising as needed

 

How often do the Band Boosters meet?
Monthly….typically the second Thursday of each month in the Band Room at SHS.  Check the web site calendar and Charms calendar for details.
